May Long Weekend - Monday Run

Postby rlmurrant » Tue May 15, 2012 10:38 am

Is anyone interested in a 15k (ish) run on Sunday? I was thinking of not running around downtown Brampton because it is getting a little bit boring. So I am up for suggestions.

(And yes - I know that many people will be biking ALL weekend ... but running is fun too!)

Keep us posted if you set up a time and location.

I am working in the afternoon but the family is heading north that morning. If they leave early enough, I would be up for a run.

I am thinking of starting the run at 8:30am (this can be modified a bit to maximize participation). I am planning on starting at the Inglewood arena and running an 'out and back' along the Caledon Trailway path. (Which could allow people to turn back whenever they are ready during the run.)

Sorry folks, family plans changed so I will not be able to join your run this morning. Have fun and stay cool.

Rebecca,
Are you still running on Sundays? Just curious as I'll be (hoping to) start to run regularly on Sundays.
Cheers,
Peter

I have been fairly consistent with my Sunday running (just not always first thing in the morning though). Generally I only skip the Sunday run when I have a race on the weekend.

What geographic area(s) were you thinking of for Sunday runs?

Really I was just hoping to get in longer (ish, I'm not training for a marathon) runs on a routine basis so I can prepare for the Muskoka 70.3 in September. In the summer I tend to focus on the bike too much and the run suffers so I want to get back into running. I usually run up and down along the Etobicoke trail in Brampton but I'd be game to run where ever, Terra Cotta, Inglewood, trail running.

What distances are you running and where do you get out to run?

I have done some runs out in Inglewood and some around Brampton (side roads and the trail). I try to switch it up so I am not running the same thing every week, so am very open to suggestions on places to run.
My usual distances are between 12 and 16k on Sundays - which I understand is still a bit short if training for a 70.3. (Although, for a longer run, you could always tack on some extra distance before or after.)

Sounds good. This weekend you are racing which will give me a bit of time to build up my distances (I have a nagging calf injury) so I'll be in touch ASAP. Good luck in Huronia this weekend.
